so it is

hey buddy, what lenses do you use for your bird shots?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HardpointPhotography In reply to Neutron2K [2007-10-07 21:06:05 +0000 UTC]

either....

Canon 70-200 2.8 IS with and without a 2x
or
Canon 300 2.8 IS with and without a 2x

I've never kept the Sigma 120-300 in the shop so I'm not sure if you have a bad copy or the lens isn't that good, my guess is that its either a bad copy or the 2x converter is causing the fringing

Neutron2K In reply to HardpointPhotography [2007-10-07 21:08:46 +0000 UTC]

I rekon its the tc causing the fringing. Its odd though becuase it looks like jpeg artifacts rather than abberations It might just of been light reflecting off the pigeon. I'll try it out again tomorrow. I don't think the lens is duff, its just does compete with my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 IF ED VR g lens. (then again, what does lol).

HardpointPhotography In reply to Neutron2K [2007-10-07 21:18:29 +0000 UTC]

the Nikon 300mm F2.8 VR LOL

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Neutron2K In reply to HardpointPhotography [2007-10-07 21:37:02 +0000 UTC]

actually it doesn't (apparently). The 80-200mm 2.8 is apparently the best lens nikon makes

HardpointPhotography In reply to Neutron2K [2007-10-08 12:55:05 +0000 UTC]

Well I never knew that! I have a friend who might argue with that though, he has a Nikkor 400 F2.8, 500 F4 and a 800 F5.6!!

Neutron2K In reply to HardpointPhotography [2007-10-08 13:04:14 +0000 UTC]

i'm just going by what people say about the 200vr online. Someone even said he knew a canon photography who bought a nikon body JUST to use that lens. I can see why, its the best lens I own by a longshot.
