Personality: Not all there. Twitch has a tendency to laugh at everything ( and nothing at all ) and finds anything and everything amusing. When asked to do something she’ll jump to it, provided you’re a fell Shadow Army member or her Queen, or any of the Shadow ranks… and she tends not to really think before doing so she can easily be forgiven ( or used as an example ) for doing something wrong just because she was told to do so. She is, however, devout in her faith and loyalty and will not be swayed one way or the other. Instead she’ll laugh and laugh and laugh your suggestions right over a cliff. Again, Twitch is not all there. She’s a little dense where sarcasm is concerned - even if it appears that she’s using it. She really just tends to use the sort of responses she’s fed most often. An emotional responder, Twitch tends to ‘think later, if at all’ about situations. This makes her a little useless when asked for advice, but it means she’s spending more time memorizing things than actually thinking about them so she makes a fantastic scout and messenger.
When it comes to pain she…. Can’t stomach it. Pain is the number one, absolute thing that she cannot do. She can’t dish it out, she can’t survive it, she just cannot do pain. So when she’s hurt she can be a bit over-dramatic and require some cosseting. Torture would shatter her mind before anything useful could be gathered and she’ll abandon the wounded ( especially if bones are showing. Dear Shadows those were bones. Oh, if she could upchuck she’d gag and heave! ) Blood, oddly enough, doesn’t bother her as long as she doesn’t have to smell it, though. Really, Twitch is just not a violent Doe and will avoid combat.
History: Twitch was a fairly normal, if a bit overly happy/enthusiastic foal. There was nothing to really suggest that she was going to be an oddball later in life. At least, until she was a bit older. She was about 4 years old when her first magical leak happened that didn’t involve spontaneously sprouting plants. Twitch had been minding her own business, happily trotting away with a message from one side of the Yacare Mire to the next when the oversized wolf attacked her. In all honesty Twitch doesn’t remember a great deal of what happened. Someone nearby shouted, she screamed with the sudden pain and the next thing she knew she, and the pain, were no longer beneath a great, snarling wolf. They were three yards away. Her body sort of… glitched in place. Popping in and out of visibility with an odd sideways stretching ( the directional travel of the light and energy she became while teleporting ) and her glazed eyes barely took in the sight of the wolf surging at her again, with another dark body surging after it and taking it down.
This was the first time her Teleportation magic manifested and it was the start of a very long, and frustrating learning curve. Twitch developed a tendency to spontaneously ‘glitch’ out when under extreme duress, and an odd… personality. It seemed that the teleportation was affecting her mind more than she’d originally let on ( or anyone had realized ) and when asked all she would say was it made her head feel fuzzy. It became expected that when one spots Twitch in one moment, she’d be gone the next, then back again. Her phasing in and out of appearance became so ‘normal’ that when she stopped randomly glitching everyone thought something was seriously wrong. But no, Twitch assured them this was not the case. She had simply, finally, learned to control it. Sort of.
How, you may ask? Well, she was passing messages back and forth, as she is most talented at doing, and happened to gather the attention of a hungry predator. ( Again, Twitch? Really? She must be awful juicy looking! ) In any case, she was unable to outrun the predator and became cornered at a cliff. It wasn’t a terribly steep cliff but it was tall enough to be dangerous, and possibly lethal, if you landed wrong at the bottom. Cornered between the predator and the cliff she chose to trust her teleportation for the first time. With a deep breath she turned her back on the danger and she stepped out onto thin air- and down to the ground below. There was an unpleasant roar and howl and finally a sickening thud as the predator launched itself after her and, too late, realized there was a cliff there. She gazed back up to the land above and considered it, then glitched back to the top and again to the trail to continue on her way as though nothing had happened. The truth of the matter was, in that moment, something inside of her clicked as though it had been disjointed and only now had been corrected. Everything began to flow smoothly again and her head cleared up when she teleported. Not that the damage already done was going away anytime soon!
Once she gained control of the magic she chose to glitch-port everywhere, rather than walking. So long as her target was in sight she could do so, right? Well this went on for a full year before someone finally decided to set their foot down about it. She was forbidden from teleporting more than three times in a row for months after that, forcing her to retrain her body in physical movements. It was agony, and torture and she really really hated everyone involved for making her do this. By the time they’d told her she could carry on teleporting again she no longer wanted to teleport everywhere, though, she finally understood why they’d done what they’d done and made her train her body. From then on she refused to slip out of shape again- which meant she was that much more effective as a messenger than she ever had been before.
October 22 2017: Spring 1997; Twitch decided to stay and wait/ see what happened after Enebris was taken by the massive raven and renewed Queen Cadhara offered pseudo-sanctuary. She surrendered to Wysteria and remains with the pale doe, awaiting her fate...
