Gingitsune Kaen, Captain of the 5th Division , is a man who is absolutely obsessed with the ever-changing cultures of human society. A long-lived Shinigami who has been in the Gotei 13 for quite some time, he has been stationed all over the Earth through a hundred cultural revolutions. Compared to the rather stagnant Soul Society, Kaen sees the World of the Living as a beautiful and exciting, rapid-fire place of shifting trends and innovation. His own personal styles are often drawn from whatever may be culturally relevant on Earth at the time. Now, in the modern world, he often sports a skullcap with a red target on the front. This unique and identifying feature came from Kaen's habit of saying 'bullseye', an earthling colloquial term that he overuses in a dozen situations. Even his speaking style is influenced by human culture.
