Hhm yea, I think mouse works just fine especially for vector art. I have wacom intuos pro myself, got it "used" (was in almost new based on condition) for under half the price online so I would suggest looking into things similar to that (online auction sites where people sell stuff and like, there might be drawing tablet there every now and then when someone has got one and in the end doesn't pick up the hobby)
