They did met (sort of ) If you play sonic gen. You would see a movie called "chao in space" And they had all the people who stared (or directed)in it at the bottom of to bill board shadow and tikal were in the list^^ That means they metΒ

I'm not usually one to do such a thing myself. I blatantly thought that Shadow just didn't make much sense with anyone. But after seeing it portrayed in fiction and seeing how Tikal and Shadow both have a number of odd similarities in the sense that both are essentially fish out of water, I really grew to like the pairing a lot. Although, I never thought Tikal was dead personally, since it didn't make any sense at all.
Chaos Zero was sealed in the Master Emerald along with Tikal. Chaos is apparently alive, so why is Tikal supposedly dead? I always just thought that the two returned to guarding the chao in the modern day like they did in the past, perhaps residing on Angel Island in seclusion.
Either way, it was really just the combination of personalities and similar positions that I came to like the pairing, and now its my favorite Sonic pairing. Although canonically Shadow is closer to Rouge, and if we were to have a canonical love interest, it would be Rouge. They do seem to like each other a bit. (Rouge only ever shows interest in Knuckles in SA2, and even then she still shows more interest in Shadow.)

I think people support this couple because of their personalities. Tikal is happy, joyful, caring, loving and i guess she can remind Shadow of Maria. Plus Tikal might be abel to clam shadow down if got upset or angry. Tikal have that inner peace with her. And Shadow personality is more dark and mysterious. But yes they have not meet, so we will never know if they would work together or not

Lol. Yeah, that's exactly it for me, plus the notion that the two of them (assuming Tikal is alive; there are mixed opinions on that) are basically both fish out of water, having been sealed away for 4000 years (Tikal) and 50 years (Shadow), respectively.
