When Hahli came to, she was lying face-up on the ground, her eyes adjusting to the glaring sunlight as her senses were awash with the loud cries of the Matoran in the grandstands.

Macku, with a piercing squeal of delight, rushed over to help the flax-maker to her feet. Hahli started to feel a throbbing pain in her head as Macku hugged her tightly, almost lifting her up into the air.

Macku was positively screaming into her ear at this point. “We won! We won the match!”

"What?”

Kotu, who had reached them both, by then, laughed. “You did it, Hahli! You made the winning shot!”

Hahli shook her head. It could not have been, she thought, until she glanced over at the rival goalpost, where the Koli Ball had come to a standstill.

She started to remember. There were barely a few seconds in the hourglass. Kotu had tried to kick the Koli Ball in mid-air but missed by an inch.

Hahli saw the ball soar pass her friend and dart straight towards her. In that split-second, a peculiar providence had led Hahli to rush ahead and forcefully headbutt the flying ball in the direction of the goalpost, before she swooned into a dead faint.

Hahli looked at the wooden scoreboard, which bore witness to the event; Ga-Koro and Po-Koro, two to one.

Standing shakily, Hahli barely had time to articulate her feelings when a few Ga-Matoran made a beeline towards her from the bleachers. The cheers of the crowd grew louder as Hahli’s friends hoisted her on their shoulders. Even the stupefied Po-Matoran players led by Hewkii, who had not expected to find in their water-sisters such an unexpected challenge, began to applaud happily for the victors.

Toa Gali watched the victory procession with pride. She was not allowed to participate, but her prior disappointment had all but vanished as Hahli was held up as the star of the match. She turned to Turaga Nokama and Turaga Onewa, who clapped with everyone else, but they looked particularly unsurprised.

Very pleased, but unsurprised.

Amidst the celebrations, Macku said, “I can’t wait for the next season! Ta-Koro won’t know what hit them!”

Hahli laughed, still sitting on the shoulders of her teammates. She wasn’t sure if she’d ever play Koli again, but she was glad to have experienced the thrill of it.

If her friends were happy, so was she!
