Description Hokay everyone, I know that last deviation might have raised some serious questions about my emotional and mental well-being, but I assure you that I am fine. I just happen to draw some sick shit .
Anyways, I'd figured that I would return to some familiar ground with a Marvel Character. And seeing that I promised some Halloween-themed and non-kaiju monsters, well here ya go. This is the Man-Thing, basically Marvel's Swamp-Thing. I tried to render this in the style that Eric Powell did on the recent Marvel Monster Group comics. And....yeah, it coulda been a lot worse. Don't get me wrong, I really like this, but I could have planned it out a bit more so that I knew exactly what color to use and to when I should shade in with the color pencil. And I'm thinkin' of doin' more of these mix-media type works, mainly because I do like to use color. And hopefully I've used it well.

The only thing that bothers me about the mixed media is that the character is far to seperated from the ground (swamp). It would be cool to see this effect put into the sky behind him, and then give the swamp more weight so that the Swamp Thing looks less like he's floating, and more like he's wading through the merky water. Also, I'd use some more contrast between the lighting of the moon and the shadowing that would be more on the frontal of the Swamp Thing. More dramatic effect.

But really, it's not a bad piece at all. Just some things I think would look cool if you tried them. Keep up the good work.

Like I said, this was my first attempt at creating something in this way. I almost did mix the inks in w/ both the foreground and background (if one looks closely I did so on the fallen tree at the bottom left). Really I had no clue what I was doing and just did what felt good. But as usual, my list of things to watch for has been added to.
