_____Random Info
The most impressive place I've ever been to outside of Japan. This is the majestic Crater Lake located in Oregon. this shot actually shows very little of the lake and instead focuses on Wizard Island. I guess I'll upload some more from this spot. Just to bad that the sky looks rather empty and blank. I have yet to develope a machine that controls the weather so I can always get the best pictures out of a trip.

What an amazing photo! I love that the island looks like an arrow pointing ahead in this shot. My brother just took the trip there this weekend- maybe I should do the same.

Scheint ein Vulkan gewesen zu sein...

Gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut!

NicolasAlexanderOtto In reply to Thinking-Silence [2010-05-05 19:58:54 +0000 UTC]

Vielen Dank. Und yep es war mal eine Vulkan. Nur die Indianer in der Gegend nannten den See halt "The mountain that became a lake", das fand ich so romantisch, das ich es einfach qoutieren musste.

Thanks. Acutally there was wind to some extent and I had more trouble getting rid of the boats. Why do they have to drive boats around the lake it's actually supposed to be nature'y.

Nice shot. The blues of this lake are incredible and almost fake looking, like Peyto Lake. You just have to see it to believe it in person. I'm glad I'm really close to Crater Lake and am actually going to try getting there during the winter season for some shots. Access is very limited due to the snow, but I'll be able to get there.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NicolasAlexanderOtto In reply to metro [2009-12-13 13:07:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I heard they get up to 45ft of snow there sometimes. I wondered how people actually get up there in winter to take pictures. Let me know when you post'em.
Btw. I also have pictures from Banff NP, but none of Peyto Lake turned out any good.

I know there are winter cabins available for those who wish to stay there. There are others who just camp in the alpine conditions. The only entrance open in the winter is the south entrance, however it's still limited access. Only way in during the winter is via snowmobile but there's still risk of avalanche and other winter hazards. I have a desire to try and snowshoe in the mountains during winter. Mountains are what got me into photography.

Well, I can somehow imagine that it's quite adventurous to visit such a place in winter. Something I'd really love to do as well. Good luck with your enterprise.

I've been here too! Apparently, the meteor hit the mountain, blew the top of, and the very tip of the peak came back down and landed near the edge. I went there two summers ago, it was very beautiful.

NicolasAlexanderOtto In reply to linklover97 [2009-12-13 13:11:17 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, I don't know about the Meteor, the Park Rangers told me something else.
But yeah, it's a great spot and it wasn't even as crowded as I thought it'd be, because there is no bigger city in the nearest vicinity.

I don't even know about the meteor thing, my Grandpa told me that. But yes, it is a great spot. I loved it.
