Description Feeling very sentimental tonight, ironic considering I'm trying to draw a god of forgetfulness. Oh well.

It's been a long time since I last signed my Chinese name on anything.

Cool to see the sketch/planning before your illustration. I like his leaf-ladle. What's the symbolism behind it?

actually this happened AFTER my illustration... I only did it because it's part of the challenge requirement Would probably have worked much better if I did this first, but I like painting much more than sketching.

The leaf-ladle is where the waters of oblivion comes out of. It loosely ties to a soup fed to souls before reincarnation so they forget about their previous life in Chinese mythology, but the reason it's leaf-like is purely because I like that silhouette...

the funny thing, is that he is the god of forgetfulness, but he has books a kind of register, i loved this "contrast"

haha my original idea is to have magical hands tearing out the book's pages. Couldn't get that to work design wise, so I said... off with the hands! *chop*

hehehhe, one way to represent this could be the pages flying away with the wind or turning into "dust in the wind", but the concept in this piece is awesome ^^
