omg, I love this portrayal of Cat! She looks just as badass and practical as Leila describes her on her story, and the red goes wonderfully with her skin! Besides I love the fact that the red hues are actually integrated on all of the portrait and not just the background or lighting, it makes it a lot more atmospheric and the outcome has a very poster like feel in the endΒ

Since the theme had to do with sunlight and colors I thought atmosphere should definitely win over realism (I think that in most cases but yes)! And Cat was definitely my fave of the bunch, I adore strong characters like that.

I love drawing Cat too. She might have a not so flashy appearance as other characters but I am glad of how she looks.

I mean, her design, aside from the tattoos, is rather simple: short hair, comfy clothes, earthen colors... Nothing like her sister who has a kinda strange look. There's also a trend of making designs overdone or cluttered, and Cat has a rather simple design in that sense.

I have to admit I have a thing for making my characters a bit... Extra. I can't help it, I love glow. But I think Cat's design is wonderful, especially because it is simple.

I am all for simple designs with one or two things that make them special. And I don't have the impression that you tend to overdo your characters!
Also, I have a character with glowing skin, so I cannot say anything about that hahaha

Race: Aasimar (angel-blooded)
Class: Bard
Setting: Pathfinder RPG, Dragonlance adaptation
Age: 25
Height: 1,81m
Hair: Pale golden, partially braided to be more comfortable in combat (her hairdess can vary).
Eyes: Sky blue
Facial shape: Oval shape, with chiseled features and unusually symmetrical.
Body build: Strong build, but not heavily muscular.
Skin tone: A golden tan (only slightly unnatural) with a subtle radiance, which is her most openly inhuman feature.
Clothes: A not too heavy combat attire, with a chainmain and some light armor pieces. A crimson cloak with golden details, among them a golden dragon.
She dresses elegantly yet practicPossibly because no one has yet captured the glow of her skin properly (my fault!) on the references, and it's just seen on the character's description.
I even made a Starcall request for her some time ago, where Elaina made the pic that leads the reference, which is just awesome!

She used to work as a woman for everything to earn some money after she left the orphanage. She escorted travelers, kept children, and even sung in the local inn (she has an opera voice, not so appropriate for an inn xD) but in the end she is most a bard as a fantasy class than as a concept, because she is mostly a warrior bard who motivates people in battle and also kicks some ass.
Now she is the major of her town after throwing out the former corrupt mayor.

Jokes aside, she's wonderful and I can't believe I haven't thought to draw glowing skin yet. That has to change!

I have as a pending thing to create a good reference for her, so I have been practising to shade glowing skin. It isn't too easy with color pencils!
