Oh, St. Lucy! I've heart the legend of her. There are so many painful scece in saints and martyrs, isn't it?
Well, I've been making (drawing and painting) artworks of this angel since 2007, almost all the works are angel in darkness and pain.
Because this angel appear only in places that it seems like no god. The first inspiration were photos which were taken during several war.

This angel appeares in my arts many time. In my setting, he lost one eye by nuclear war. From that time, he has been appearing only for peoples who are in tragedy.

My primary scool was Protestant. But I'm told that the concept of my art seems like Catholicism, and I think so too.
Before the baptism, I left primary school. So I haven't baptised yet (to tell the truth). After many twists and turns, I got close to Christianity again in these years.

I do, or rather, I did, when I was heavy into the topic :3 I had always drawn Lucifer, the arch angels and Tetragrammaton, but I only really got into some of them after reading Goethe's 'Faust (The tragedy's first part)' and developed 'my own story' on it (which I never wrote down, but it IS in my head).
When I am done with some of them, and I am working on one at the moment, even if it is a very simple picture, I will show you :3 <3

I'm looking forward to see your works. I too have read Goethe's 'Faust'. Mephistopheles is a so interesting character, though he is a devil.
Angels and devils are everlasting theme of us. So, I do not get tired even if I draw it no matter how much. You too?

Mephistopheles = Lucifer, is an Angel, fallen as he may be, but the original Demons (who are those Angels fallen from Heaven/Grace) are still Angels, which also includes Samael, the Snake in the Garden of Eden.

They indeed are and I enjoyed drawing Lucifer again. I might go back to drawing some of the others, too, as soon as I feel like it again, am not feeling to well at the moment :3

Yes, devils were angels before they had fallen from heaven. It seems like a key.
Sometimes, roles and personality of angels and devils are similar each other.
（For example, Devils are punishing evils in hell！）
Angels who I have been painting are wounded in many works. like humans (who had original sin) and fallen-angels.
Because, I think no one can help others without knowing agony. So my angels are similar to fallen-angels.

I just mentioned that, because I draw Lucifer not in some sort of 'hideous demon form' like he is often classically portrait x3
Most of the angels I drew, though they were related to 'stories', where usually not in any way the general portrait of happiness, but most of my works is emotionally more geared towards the 'negative' than the positive.
I am not sure about being unable to help without knowing agony, because we all have not experienced the pain some others have, but we might still relate, even if not in a sense of full understanding. This, though, has much more to do with a persons level of empathy.
I do get what you are saying, though, and to that I can agree mostly :3

Yes, the angels I paint/draw are similar too, I think.
In the case of human beings, it will not be easy to save other persons even if he/she knows the agony.
Because the person who awfully suffered have wounds in his/her soul, and cannot afford to save other persons. But how about the case of angels? Angels are created more superior to human beings, they will have deep empathy and relate easier to people than human beings.

I don't think so, actually, I met a lot of people who have been through horrible things and are still strong to help others.
Maybe your idea of 'help' is different to mine? I don't know, but many humans are strong and learned from the bad that happened to them to help others in similar situations and especially they are able to help. Not all, after all, we are all different in personality and mental strength, but there are many out there with tons of emotional and physical baggage and they still help regardless because it also helps themselves.
The way I think about angels I actually don't consider them superior to humans. They are different, they have different powers, 'magical powers' that may be superior to a human, but that does not make them necessarily better, just different. The crucial thing that, according to Christian-Judaism lore, makes them so much different to humans and the reason as to why God favors humanity over his... flock of 'divine' subjects, is that they have not been granted a soul. All in all, in most classic lores you will always see them being ordered to do whatever it is they are supposed to do, be it declaring god's word, 'helping' humanity or killing all the first born of a kingdom. They are told to do, not to question their orders. All in all, they serve God and ultimately humanity for He sends them out to help his 'ultimate creation'. If they start questioning their position and start acting completely on their own, they will be punished and banned from heaven.
I thus doubt that an angel has such 'deep empathy' and can 100% relate to something that it even not it's species. In terms of emotional depth, I consider them inferior, actually.
But that is my opinion on it. That is why I consider most Angels actually quite repressed and jaded. But I am not religious, so I probably see it quite differently to those who believe.
I guess we all have a different idea about sort of 'abstract' ideas like that.
