I find it very cute, it works perfectly! Though if the size is not a perfect fit you can always push your character a little bit closer to match up the size :3 I've also seen portraits of dolls with a real background, which worked really well! You could try that too, with a more realistic figure!

My only suggestion would be to move the nendo a little bit more on the foreground, so that through perspective the set will look more proportionate: I notice you already did, but the chara still looks the same height as the chair and this is kinda unrealistic... :s
