Why thank you! I really do want to make another and be able to use the accents like these but make a better top....if that makes sense! If I ever venture to the east side of the state I'd love to pick your brain. Hoop skirts are something I always loved let alone seeing the possibilities for chainmaille ones! It's quite the compliment your comment is with your skills

Haha! I do know the VERY basics of chainmail but it's so tedious and I'd have no idea on the pattern xDΒ
Out of curiosity, how much is this one? I doubt I can afford it but its worth asking!

It's heavy in comparison to fabric. It's not that heavy though. I wish I had a scale :/

Echo! Β Remarkable work! Β Delightful model, too. Β Bet it's hard to get through airport security, though! Β Well worth a *ahem* thorough search!
Do you craft your own rings? Β I've read about a technique where you coil wire stock around a dowel, then cut along one side to render several dozen open rings at a time. Β Never tried it though. Β Do you simply close the rings with a butt joint, or seal them closed somehow? Β Just curious.

NikidaEve In reply to imagineairy [2013-08-27 11:08:03 +0000 UTC]
I had to go through a metal detector once for a tattoo convention out in California. Needless to say they were a little confused when I said I couldn't take off the metal. I had a tank on over for a little while so I had to go through that once surprisingly!
And I do the dowel method and handcut my rings. I need a dremel to do it faster but instead if just cutting dozens by hand, I do hundreds to thousands. And I close them in tight with pliers. I keep it simple. The way my side cutters complete the cut leave the ring with an angle cut instead of a totally flat one saw cuts provide, so they overlap and close in tighter and stay snug so it doesn't burr As much and the rings don't scratch

Nice. Β If you ever make armor you might want to rotate the lines 90 degrees. Β Is this lined or unlined?
π: 0 β©: 1
NikidaEve In reply to Lrdfaelan [2013-08-27 11:03:31 +0000 UTC]
It has one line going from center cup to tip of the cup . It doesn't cut always through the piece

Time and practice. I know it's repetitive when people tell you those kind of things but I still have alot to learn. Once you get tired of learning, then you halt on creative thinking
