I loved this. (yes, I see the irony) Your picture jumped right out at me. I think the concept is great, very original and eye catching, as well as meaningful. My only problems were with the execution. Love was twisted, and that was great, but I think pain should have been twisted as well. My only other minor (and these are very minor) complaint is that the beginning shadow letters for pain should've lined up and directly touched the end of the letters for love. Other than that, I think it was fantastic.
This was my first critique, so I hope I wasn't too harsh. Please accept it in the spirit it was given, trying to help.

The idea is great, and the visual impact is top notch. However, I think you should have twisted the letters such that the shadows would be optically correct, adding mathematical truth to the work. I disagree with the critique saying that the word "pain" should be twisted as well. I didn't notice it right away anyway as it is, so if you made it harder to read, I might not have noticed at all.

Absolutely beautiful. This speaks the truth- and you have presented it in a way that captivates.
I love the color scheme- really great. Both the black and red lettering stand out against the grey.
