I love this progressive inner monologue of Hamilcar's. He's angry, frustrated, and devastated by both Ian and by himself; he's keeping it bottled up and it's eating him raw. And it's cummulative -- seeing Ian just plowing on, ignoring the tension, trying to move on -- it's making it worse. Ffff! I love this so much!

There's so much emotion and power to every brushstroke. I love the hazy grey effect, like eyes blurring from tears or from rage, or even as an idealization of reality (perhaps all three?). And the intense loneliness and isolation I can feel from Hamilcar's words and his posture... even when Ian and Hamilcar are side by side (panel two here), he's withdrawn, hunched, chained. His body language is so nuanced!

Oh, these two idiots... I can't get enough of their angst
