Okay, this was originally for something else, the "Little Known Facts" thing I have in my journal but it got way too elaborate. I'm still gonna post it with the little known fact thing, but I had to shrink so much in that one you lost all the detail. I wanted to post it solo as well.ANYWAYS, Dover being "flirty" with Seymour in the halls of Monster High. Need I say more?
Again, I would like to shade this one day, but it's not gonna happen for a while.

No idea why this came up in my search, but from what I learned from Google, Monster High is a television/doll series targeted at girls under the age of eleven, which is kind of creepy, that you're drawing it at all. Also, I'd call it gay, but I think the photo did a good job doing that by itself. Carry on.

Target audience =/= actual audience. Ever heard of a little show called "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"? The target audience for that is young girls from five to about ten. Their main audience is young adult to adult adult men ranging from ages 15+ known as "bronies" (I'm a PegaSIS myself). They've gained a lot of media coverage recently so I'm sure you've heard of them, if not they're super easy to look up.
Monster High has the same appeal. They craftsmanship of the dolls is amazing, the episodes are fun, and the art/character design is appealing. It caters to both child and adult fans. In fact the majority of legitimate doll collectors are adults- you know, people with expendable cash of their own- and the novels for Monster High are located in the young adult section which caters to people, not just girls, from ages 11-17+. I can GUARANTEE I am not the oldest fan, the only twenty-one year-old fan, or that this is the worse drawing on the "creepy" level.
Furthermore why is it weird that I'm drawing a gay art of my own original characters, not canon characters? These characters are in high school, the point in time many people are discovering their sexuality and begin flirting. You have to be thirteen years-old to be on DeviantArt, according to the terms of use if there are people younger than that they are violating the terms and can be banned for it. What I'm getting at is that this is a perfectly natural thing to be exposed to at this age with 'age appropriate' characters. The fact that it being gay suddenly makes it more taboo is a shame, it's a clear reflection at the under-representation of the LGBTQ in not only this fandom but in the media as a whole.
