I did all the Vampire Diaries pictures lately, I decided to do something more relaxed, so instead of doing something red and grey, here's pink and black.Butterflies start off as caterpillars and they kind of symbolise a journey through life and how you change, but the girl stays the same, just like the butterflies in the picture. She just walks around learning nothing.

This is really stunning. The colors bring the black butterflies and woman to life. The contrast is beautiful and really pops, and the the blackish smoke is beautiful. The magical feel of the piece, coupled with the view on it is lovely.

Wow, my take on this beautiful work was completely different. The woman has shape but no detail; she is the essence of humanity. Her black form merges seamlessly with the form of the Earth, as we are born of the Earth, part of the Earth and inseparable from it. She is regal, proud, and the essence of femininity/Gaia.
The butterflies are light and ephemeral, representing the spiritual side of woman. The butterflies soar skyward in a visual display of spiritual ascent. There is a distortion of the woman's body near her middle revealing the fact that there is never spiritual progress without physical discomfort. The black mist coming off the woman in the air with the butterflies represents the dross (karma) burned off by spiritual ascent.
All this is happening, yet the woman marches serenely on, into the future, into the Light.

The girl being part of the Earth was the idea, this is where she came from and she's still connected to it, but there is a side of her which is longing to be free and wants to escape which could be the reason for butterflies. Everyone is a part of the Earth, but it doesn't mean we're all looking after it or feeling the connection.
I find that the horizon is never ending, something that can't ever be reached and is something like a time line. The girl's journey never ends as she travels along it. At this stage the horizon is a simple line, but she might come across some obstacles as you do in life.
