I have been reading the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga lately!
There's this one chapter (I think chapter 11) where Jounouchi disappears one day, and Yuugi, Anzu and Honda find him to be in Hirutani's gang. They try to get him back, but one of Hirutani's gang-members punches Yuugi in the face and they walk away snickering. Later on, Jounouchi is silent, and when asked why, he beats up the guy who punched Yuugi, saying, "For hitting my friend, I can't forgive you!" The gang then proceeds to beat up and eventually tase Jou. Eventually Yami no Yuugi kills the gang in a "Sennen Game" and rescues Jounouchi.

There's one part in the chapter where Yuugi, Honda and Anzu are searching for Jounouchi, and Anzu suggests that they go look for him at his apartment. However, upon knocking on the door and opening it, a liquor bottle is thrown at them and Jounouchi's father slurs, "That brat hasn't been home in two days... I'll kill him when he gets home..." The three friends retreat and Honda explains that Jou's father is an alcoholic who abuses him from time to time.

This left me shocked. How in hell could someone abuse poor, sweet Jou?! My heart went out to him (being a past child abuse victim) and he was instantly made my favourite character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. So of course, being the person that I am, I decided to draw Jounouchi.

This picture is (crappily) copied from the last page of chapter 11. I love his expression, and I love the shading. It looks like he's got something to hide; an absolute "cat-who-caught-the-canary" look. Anyways.
