New packages of additional armor were produced and delivered to the Army (seen on some wagons in the Ancient Babylon operation in Iraq), as well as the new IVECO V12 engine with 27 liters of displacement capable of developing 1600 hp, however, it seems that engine updates have been blocked due to technical and economic problems. Currently the only update on Aries is the adaptation of the communication systems within the NEC force with the Siccona program. [6]

In 2018 the first tranche of € 35 million was also financed in three years for the development of the first two prototype upgraded vehicles, called Ariete II, to allow the vehicle to remain in service beyond 2030
