For some reason I really love this render! What steps did you take to achieve this style? and what program?

thank you . I used 3 area lights and a dome light to fill the scene. This was rendered in maya. There are a lot of studio lighting setup guides on google, maybe you should check them out.

oh thats it? lol it looks like a lot of work was done to it perhaps in post? there seems to be slight chromatic abberation as depth of field kicks in further back, lovin that look, any chance you could link me to the one you currently have setup? I have one that I downloaded a while back but its beginning to get dull lol

Sure. Mine is kinda like this with the dome sphere around the subject to give that even illumination all round. You can play around with it however you want really. If you are that interested in lighting and not wanting to spend too much time messing around with maya/3ds max, there are real time renderers like Keyshot or Bunkspeed, which give very nice result fast.

great stuff! thanks for the link, looks like a basic 3 point lighting setup, I'll experiment with the dome though, I hadnt thought of that yet. I am a Maya user and tend to constantly IPR pretty tedious if you ask me.

Real time renderes are pretty new to me, I was at a live demo of HDR studio a few months back and was pretty impressed but I dont think it gives me the organic look I want, its more for product presentation

you're welcome. With the dome, i just added a lambert with white color, bring the incandescence up a bit and done. you can plug in any hdr image into the color slot as well, if you dont like the even filled lighting.
