Almost every British school or school from an ex-British colony has a house system. Hogwarts is the one that ripped off real life

QAQ Gesicht!! My heart broke during this scene....

Anyways, very nice drawing! I like the composition of it a lot, and the way Gesicht's face is shadowed makes me feel sad ;n;

Thanks very much!
Gesicht always makes me feel sad every time I read the manga 'cause I know what's going to happen to him. OH THE DRAMATIC IRONY ._.

No problem! Any Pluto fan art that isn't a direct cover-copy is in MY faves. YES. PLUTO MUST BE READ MORE. (In support I did [link] ) As well as anything else by Naoki Urasawa! Though the fortunate thing about its not as being popular is that it saves us from ridiculous pairings.

nitefise In reply to tomato-bird [2011-08-05 03:51:27 +0000 UTC]

Lol I saw that comic I'm still uncertain about Epsilon's gender every time I see him
And I can't but agree with you on that last point. Although I can't for the life of me imagine what kind of pairing you could invent with something like Pluto. It demands too much respect >D

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tomato-bird In reply to nitefise [2011-08-05 19:39:09 +0000 UTC]

I know! That's what I love about it–it's just so well done, sad and serious but with a tender touch to it. Of course, that seems to be a signature of anything done by Naoki Urasawa, though even his Monster suffers from the occasional nonsensical pairing. Oh well.

Epsilon is just a guy with long hair. I don't know what the mangareader translators were thinking when they referred to him as "she" for a couple of pages, but the print translations have no such error.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

nitefise In reply to tomato-bird [2011-08-05 22:29:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the online translations must have been what got me confused, since I've only ever read the entire series online, and never in print. I've gotten one or two volumes from the library before but that's it
Now Imma go read some of Urasawa's other stories...

tomato-bird In reply to nitefise [2011-08-06 01:48:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I'm reading Monster now, and it's extraordinary. MUCH darker than Pluto, but it has the same sense of pacing and mystery.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

nitefise In reply to tomato-bird [2011-08-06 04:48:54 +0000 UTC]

Ohh that's good to hear. I've always been a fan of the pacing in Pluto (among other things); things happen when it needs to and it doesn't drag on. That said, it's not rushed either.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tomato-bird In reply to nitefise [2011-08-13 03:04:56 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that's exactly how it is. How things are revealed slowly but steadily, and how the story isn't just carried in the action, but the intense, fighting scenes are balanced out by the quiet, more tranquil scenes.

What type of thing is it? Actual novel, graphic novel...? And can it be found online or in most book stores? xD

It's a manga series by Naoki Urasawa. Just Google it, and you'll see

Aw. Great pic! Although I don't know exactly what it's about since I haven't read this manga yet. But I'm a fan of Naoki Urasawa's mangas, so I probably will.

nitefise In reply to Amarevia [2011-07-27 21:31:22 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I'm not familiar with Urasawa's other works, but I know that Pluto is definitely worth reading. It's not so long either, so you don't get the sense of it dragging on like some manga do. Things happen when they need to, and it finishes when it needs to. Go read it! xD

Amarevia In reply to nitefise [2011-07-29 10:52:27 +0000 UTC]

I totally recommend Monster and 20th century boys if you have time. They are long, though (Monster has like 160+ chapters and 20CB has over 260 in total). Pluto has only 65 chapters, I'll definitely read it. 8D

nitefise In reply to Amarevia [2011-07-30 01:57:50 +0000 UTC]

They sure look long, but I'll look into it when I've got the time

Pluto's a really good manga. I'm sure it's a lot deeper than I think it is, because I read it all in one sitting in a bookstore, but even that hurried reading made me realize a lot of things about life.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

nitefise In reply to Lurker-One [2011-07-27 21:28:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it is quite deep, both on the whole and within certain sections. I've read it twice and on second reading I certainly noticed more things than I did on first reading
