"Deathsong....are you absolutely sure?" Patchstar mewed, her voice full of concern. She stared at the larger red tom, eagerly awaiting his answer. Deathsong averted his eyes, afraid to look his foster mother in the eyes. He hated to be the one to tell her this, but he knew it was for the best.

"I'm sure, Patchstar." He answered with certainty, his ears flattening against his skull. "You need to get over to SnowClan right now."

Patchstar stared at her paws momentarily, as if deciding what to do. Her green eyes flashed as she looked up again. "Tell Joltflash that I'm going to the border." she began to run towards the entrance, but Deathsong cut her off.

"Hold on, Patchstar. I'm coming with you." He said decidedly, standing in her way. Patchstar didn't argue. She glanced over towards where Dave was sitting, near the leader's den.

"Dave," she called, and the yellow and orange tom looked up expectedly. "Tell Joltflash that Deathsong and I are going to the SnowClan camp." Dave nodded in reply. Patchstar turned back to Deathsong. "Let's go."
