Description Was it the last neko bus already?

I got this image in my head after reading today's sad news about the Studio Ghibli's unsure future. It's inevitable that all good things eventually come to an end. Studio Ghibli's movies, especially Tonari no Totoro has been big part of my childhood. Even today it's comforting to watch the movie in the middle of my busy life. This is my tribute to Hayao Miyazaki's fantastic animation studio and movies. It's funny how I was in my brother's wedding last weekend and they had the Spirited Away "Always With Me" (Itsumo Nando Demo) as their wedding march. Really beautiful but also a bit melancholic.

Edit: Thank you so much for the Daily Deviation! This means a lot to me! I have been struggling with art for a while and haven't been so happy about how long it usually takes to create something. This one I did in one night and I had a very clear idea how to do this. I haven't been struggling so much since

Wow. When I first saw this it hit me like a brick wall. Right then and there your impact was 5 stars. I am a huge Studio Ghibli fan and admirer of Hayao Miyazaki. When I heard about the unsure future, I was very upset, and a little disappointed. How can something that gave us timeless classics, just... vanish? Your art captured that perfectly. The feeling of the end. Totoro is gone. The final bus has come. It creates not only a nostalgic feeling, but a bittersweet feeling as well. The colours are beautiful, and the whole picture just gave off this incredible feeling to me. I love how you included one of Miyazaki's most famous movies as your setting. That also set for the mood. Incredible vision as well.

Overall, this almost brought me to tears. Being a pretty tough guy (Not really) Studio Ghibli's movies are one of the only things that really affected me. And this art, it affected me. Excellent job, and I hope to see more from you in the future. Hopefully, this is not the end for Ghibli. And this art captures that uncertainty perfectly.

This is a very powerful piece of art on one of my all-time favourite scenes of Studio Ghibli. I love how you did it and it puts your own unique style in with Totoro's style.

The vision is good. You successfully highlighted the main components of the scene (the bus stop sign and the umbrella) by shedding what appears to be sunlight on them. Not only though did you address the main objects, but you made a background that, although detailed, blended softly into the distance, allowing your eyes to see the umbrella and the bus sign first.

Originality is also well done. You but a twist on the classic (and beloved) scene of Tonari no Totoro. It is a melancholy picture- in which the viewer remembers the movie that impacted so many of us, and the fact that Hayao Miyazaki is leaving Studio Ghibli.

Technique is very well done. You soundly blended your technique with that of Studio Ghibli's to create this art. As I mentioned before, you highlighted the main objects in the picture, and softly blended the background in.

This impacted me and i imagine many other Studio Ghibli lovers. Although a melancholy piece of art, everyone will remember Studio Ghibli at its finest.

Very well done, keep up the good work! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Thank you for your critique, I appreciate it! It's great to hear you liked this piece I have been studying lighting more carefully lately and I tried to pay a lot attention to the light in this picture. I have been painting natural light more and not so much artificial light, but in this case the light source is supposed to be a lamp post, not sun light. I think I'll need to get more familiar with the artificial light sources as well! But all in all I feel the picture still made the right kind of impact! Thanks for your comments!

This was a childhood movie of mine. And you're right, good things do come to an end. However, the memories they leave behind live on.

THE STUDIO CAN'T DIE! It's got to many animated movies under it's belt. If there still with Disney, they'd be fools to let it go after all it best represent them.

It's not. They announced they were reorganizing, and some people misread it as saying they were closing.
