belle (named herself that in the story, once she was aware she could) lives more near the dessert and far away from the hotel for her own safety and seems frightening.
she is harmless compared to the other creatures in this story. Belle didn’t know when she started to exist, but knew she brought herself into existence.
Her existing form is almost clay like, very hard to move place after it has set.
Hair and bones are even more difficult for her to make.
She has poor eyesight, but adores humans and the way they are.
Unfortunately, humans don’t feel the same way.
No one has come at her with pitchforks, because all who have seen her have had heart attacks or strokes.
Mind you, this actually is from looking at the eyes near the top of her head, but it could also be a mix of fear from seeing HER. Belle can’t exactly ask which made them drop dead.
Some have survived, but either wrote her off as some horrendous hallucination or have the memory of seeing her locked away.
She tries to copy the look of people, but can’t start over from scratch when she fails, so the faces are moved and shoved around, the hair on her scalp moves. it’s not a pretty picture or easy to hide.
She thinks she’s doing quite well all things considered. She tries not to look at humans, but curiosity gets the better of her, and she needs a reference for her new looks to fit into the world.. one day.
