Description
Client: Artistic Justice GamesAnother commissioned illustration that I rendered for a martial arts card game series sold in the US. Shiko-Dachi is also known as Horse Stance mǎbù (馬步), and I remember my brother practicing it a lot when he was learning Wushu. It's not easy to do for long stretches of time!
The original photo reference for the stance depicted a typically fat sumo wrestler, so I referenced the Hulk a lot to study how to make a chunky guy muscular. I had great fun with this painting while experimenting further with replicating an oil paint look digitally, and this piece ended up getting the studio the Dark Souls colouring job haha.
