Scott Summers ("Slim" Summers - civilian) - Cyclops (graduate student - professor) - (Leader of the X-Men)

Origins:

The first of two sons of test pilot Christopher Summers and his wife Katherine, during a flight to a vacation, Scott alongside his brother Alex became orphans after the plane his father was piloting crashed down. In order to save both their sons lives, Christopher pushed both his sons out of the plane with the only available parachute. After landing and with their fathers now dead, both kids were separated and put on adoption, Scott ending up in the care of the Winters' family.
As Scott came to age and turned 13, he began to suffer from severe headaches that eventually evolved into some sort of epilepsy. One night after suffering from an attack, Scott's eyes and sight began to alter, ending with his eyes turning solid red.

  Believing his adoptive son was suffering from a disease, Scott was taken to an specialist on the matter, whom treated Scott for an entire month in order to know what he had. Scott's particular synthoms eventually garnered the attention of Prof. Charles Xavier, whom would shortly after take care of Scott's health. With the permission of the Winters', Scott was moved to the Professor's personal state in order to get treatment.

  Once there, the young Summers was studied on by the Professor alongside his former student, Dr. Hank McCoy. It was during his time in the school that Scott's condition started to change as suddenly his eyes erupted an uncontrollable blast of optic force, confirming to both Dr. McCoy and the Professor that he was indeed, a mutant. In order to contain Scott's new volatile powers, Hank created for him a special set of ruby quartz lenses. Seeing in Scott both fear for his own well-being as well an enourmous potential, the Professor asked Scott if he would be willing to join his newly founded Institute, an offer Scott took, becoming one of it's first students.

  For the next year, Scott would learn to control his newly found abilitties being tutored by both the Professor and Dr. McCoy, as well as helping them find and help other young mutants like him. In this time, the trio would soon be joined by 3 new students, a New Jersey kid with the ability to decrease the temperature of the ambients' water vapor, Bobby Drake, the son of major anti-mutant activist/buisnessman with a brand new set of feather wings growing out of his back, Warren Worthington and lastly, the daughter of one of the Professor's former colleagues whom developed not-so-different abilitties than Charles', Jean Grey.

With the four of them being teached in secret by the Professor and Hank how to control their abilitties to their full potential, they became The Institute's First Class of Students, naming themselves the "X-Men". These original 4 would become known by that name in the public after having stopped a terrorist attack performed by mutant activist/extremist, Erik Lensherr, after said attack, alongside the help of Dr. McCoy and Xavier, the X-Men would become the official representatives of the school as a way to further promote a good image of mutants and how the school can work as an instrument to help other mutants to deal with their powers and live in peace alongside human society.
  Having now long since graduated and become the schools' Professor of Mutant/Human Ethics, Scott (codenamed Cyclops) continues to be a member of the X-Men as their official spokesperson and leader.

  "Ever since we first met Scott, his abilitties showed an astonishing power challenged by only a few, however through further studies I've discovered that Scott's control of his optic blasts has been blocked due to the serious head trauma caused to him during the accident he suffered as a young child."
"Though commonly belived by the student body to be "laser beams", as they'd put it, both me and the Professor theorize that Scott's abilitties are actually a projection-of-sorts. His eyes do not generate the blasts, but rather serve as a sort-of-gate to a dimension invisible to the naked eye, working similarly as the energy generated by ultraviolet-radiation, though much less lethal"
"Due to the nature of his abilitties, the Professor and I have developed two sets of special glasses for Scott to use in order to contain his abilitties, both using a special glass made out of ruby-quartz material. One of these is Scott's visor, a gadget created by yours truly so that when in combat, our very own Cyclops can be able to not only control the intensity of his blasts, but use their destructive power like they were a fine precission knife with the skill of a professional surgeon"

Truth be told, you'd imagine that if I was doing the X-Men for my own MRU project (Marvel Redux Universe), I'd start with something more short, stabby, yellow and loved by all even if he was wearing a wife-beater.
BUT. I decided to start with Slim over here, why, because admidetly, I love Cyclops and the concept surrounding him as a character. So, here we are people, the X-Men are coming.
