I just checked serebii, in gen 8 they actually neefed female gardevoir ratios from 50 to 49.8 so technically speaking Nintendo and Game Freak themselves support Male Gardevoirs more than females.

I know this comment is a year ago, but Gardevoir's design was meant to look masculine. It's based on a heroic, magical knight. It's Japanese name is Sirknight. That "dress" is suppose to be a robe. I don't like it when people gender stereotype Pokemon by how they look, sound, and act. I know you're stating your opinion, but just because you don't like male Gardevoir they don't deserve to be "killed with fire." I like Gardevoir and other Pokemon regardless of gender.

You got it's Japanese name misspelled. It's Sirnight, but the point is still there. You still got the meaning behind Gardevoir's "dress" correctly. And due to the controversy towards Male Gardevoirs, in the Gen 3 Remakes, Wally's male Ralts was eventually evolved to a Gallade instead of a male Gardevoir, unlike in the original GBA version. According to the theory made by "The Dex" behind it's possibility of a Male Mega Gardevoir, it's a male playing a female role in a story. Which is almost no different to males liking playing female characters in videogames. I want to say more...but nothing is coming to mind anymore... u.u...

I know about the Japanese name and what they were going for, but when it came off as more feminine to us in Β the US and with the name change, it just sorta stuck with me and a number of other people. Not to mention its design doesn't help all that much. I usually interpret a slender body type like that towards female as do other people. But there are a few who do see it and acknowledge that it was intended to me masculine.
It's still a personal preference of mine to have a female Gardevoir, regardless of if males have a better stat-boost but I like to do that simply because of the slight added challenge.
But anyway, that comment is rather old and I actually have done my research since then but I still prefer a female to a male.

There are no stat differences between genders. That's only in Gen 2 because of the IV system that determined stats,Β Shininess,Β and gender rather than just the former. Because of this, females of the 87.5%M/12.5%F gender group could never be Shiny. (The Attack IV determined Shininess, and while the minimum of the Attack IV was 2, the highest a female of that group could ever get was 1.) Gen 3 overhauled this so that both genders of any egg group can have good stats,Β be shiny, or both.
As for Gardevoir's design, its feminine/androgynous look could be based on those ofΒ guardian angels, wearing long white robes and expressing undying loyalty to whomever they're protecting.

True, there are some people who mostly see feminine looking Pokemon as "only female" even though they can be male and vise versa. I use to be like that, but now I try to acknowledge them as both genders(except the ones that are 100% male/female).Β
I respect your opinion and I have no right to make you think otherwise unless you choose to. If you prefer female Gardevoir just for the added challenge, that's fine with me. I just hate the people who go overboard with gender stereotyping Pokemon. They're fictional creatures for crying out loud.Β
