Oh my goodness, this has been so long coming--I'm so sorry! >~<
For some reason I had such a challenge with the lighting in this piece. I've been so scared to complete this piece if I'm so rusty. Please, I hope you like it, these adorable pones need more art! I really like their manes...
I was able to complete this just in time, as recently my workstation went to poop and would lag while I draw--so bad it was unbearable. Trying to figure it out with my dad, it might be due to the recent Windows10 Creator Update conflict with my Wacom driver. Who would have though the Windows update titled to tailor towards creators would cause issues for Wacom creators?
Enough excuses...
I have gotten a lot of requests to draw ponies being romantic, and this is the first time I got to draw a pair of stallions. Yay!

Ah yes, the ear nibble is a staple in the pony world as a sign of showing affection. I guess the reason us humans are inferior lifeforms is because we don't have ears large enough for something like that to be done so easily... Probably.

I love the setting and the lighting here! You're always great with these warm looking candlelit atmospheres. Even if you had trouble with it, it looks fantastic!

Aww thanks, lighting has been something I've always focused on improving--dabbling between realistic or fantastical...idk. Still, the challenge never is boring.
And I did not figure the picture would be so full. I tried to put less in the background this time, maybe put a little more focus on the characters, glad the overall scene still holds up though. Thanks ^w^ <3
Thanks for the care, with your speed of making fantastic art, you probably could empathize :3 I had to manually update my graphics driver, seems AMD did was not included in the Win10 update. It's improved, but not as good as what I could remember--manageable enough to continue working though ^^

As I am a great romantic,(you can see it with my OC's xD )Β I can truthfully tell you that I love this scene, they are just too cute !Β Β
The environment is really well worked and it is true that it did not have to be easy to achieve with the only source of light, this candle !
But I wonder if there is not another source of light in this room? As this is a hotel, there is surely a window, therefore an external light source such as moonlight for example. ( Further to the right of the bed, I see the painting and next to it what I think is a mirror.)
I have this feeling by looking at their mane, I have the impression that there is a reflection of another light source and also because I think that a candle could not enlighten so much, well at least it would be much darker.
Of course, this is not a criticism, just a question that comes to my mind ^^ Tell me if I'm wrong ^^'
In any case, it is still a magnificent achievement, the environment is well detailed, like the OC's, expression and the mane is perfect ! ItΒ announces them a beautiful night in perspective

Absolutely, I found the window to look a lot like a mirror. I was considering putting stuff like clouds or a moon outside, but I felt it might have been too much.
And with the lighting for these nightly scenes, I feel I have a bad habit of making key parts of the scene too dark. I think in reality it should be much darker, but I want to try for more fantastical scenes with luminescence filling everywhere. Hopefully that would spark the imagination and make the scene all the more magical.

Hmm it could have been a good idea, but in another case, the look would not have focused solely on the characters so your choice is comprehensive.
Yes, it's true that respecting reality is not always a good choice, especially here, if you had to respect the light, we would not see many details and the scene would not have the same impact on observers.
