Now you gotta imagine them speaking in sign language, with Denev making nonsensical beginner sentences and Anukhat being very puzzled.

The confused looks on their faces for sure, sucks to be left behind after the Crisis.Β

tbh, Anukhat deserted because he considered Dagon had betrayed himself and all the Daedra who served him, by engaging in a battle doomed to loss and disaster. He had his own cult, being adored by disillusioned former Mythic Dawn adepts, until they were slain by the Imperial Legion and he had to escape and retrieve safety (which was proposed to him by a Dunmer who offered a deal that seemed fair back then, but turned out extremely abusive as the guy was quite inspired by the ways of both Mephala and Bal).
Denev, on his side, never served Dagon, instead being part of mostly independent clans until they pledged to Malacath so not to be scattered each time they were slain. Last time he lost his kyn was pretty bad however, and he let himself be conjured by an elf who ended up keeping him permanently by her side, until she died of old age. She was nice to him, still, concerned about his well-being, and as puzzling as it was, it was a positive experience^^

I can imagine Denev may have "softened" up due to the elf, but that experience would have been most certainly enlightening for him on the ways of mortals. I can imagine he'd almost pity them.
As for Anukhat, that just sucks, not much more I can say to that! Only that he really got the short end of that stick.

Haha, yes, he's grown enough fascination to be more interested in observing them than in killing them. The fact that the last Prince he pledged to was Malacath is probably quite revealing that while he values survival, he also values empathy, honor, kindness and loyalty. He can be rough with his kyn, but not without a caring purpose^^
And yeah, poor Anukhat. That sucks enough that he's trying to just be patient, with the idea that the mortal will die eventually. Little did he imagined that the mortal might get tired of his toy no longer being fun enough, and no longer cares if abuse ends up killing him and casting him back to Deadlands, to be punished by Dagon for deserting.

That is a story I would love to read, to see the character transition.
Shortest stick there ever was.
