Huh. I'm very curious as to who this character is based off of. Hanuman? I can't think of any other multi limbed monkey gods.

Noxypia In reply to GHENGIZZ [2013-04-22 09:22:04 +0000 UTC]
Yes, the design is based on the description of Hanuman. I gave him dark fur and dark skin complexion which I think go along very well with red gems.

where or what way did you learn to paint skin? what color swatches did you use? how long have you been doing art?
π: 0 β©: 1
Noxypia In reply to kaze-fox [2013-01-10 11:50:14 +0000 UTC]
I have learned from the observations of old master masterpieces and photo references. The observation skills are essential for good paintings and good drawings, especially realistic artworks. You need to see and learn what the colors of skin are in different conditions such as daylight, cloudy or moon light. Then, you will learn how to maximize the capability of your color choices and to control the color relationship in your picture. Professional artists tend to use a few colors in their pictures.

Good idea. like looking at fleshy areas that have lots of blood vessels and boney areas that dont.so how long have you been working to get this far?

Noxypia In reply to kaze-fox [2013-01-10 15:41:11 +0000 UTC]
It took approximately 2 days for painting.

Oh I see. And How long in your life you were painting.
I started a year ago. But until now, I have been drawing for 8 years.

Oh my bad...I am sorry I misunderstood your question. I have been painting for almost 8 years now. I started with a manga style then I turned in another direction for western fantasy style during the year 6. Therefore I have actually been painting this way for about 2 years. I wasted 6 years of my life for being too much self-assured and arrogant.

you're quite honest. thats cool. i ask because i have been working at it for a while with slow progress and i wonder if im just a slow learner. i do practice and try to study but i can never apply it.

If I am correct, you are living in USA. (I am sorry for sneaking in your page) I recommend you to study traditional painting first. I think there are many good art schools there, in case you are serious about painting.

I do live in the USA. And im sure there are some good school classes for paint but i dont have much money. Digital is cheap and i dont have to buy supplies. Im going to school and working at the same time. so i have to chose important classes first. and it will be a long time before i can take those class. and when i can take those classes, they make me do other classes before i can do it. It's gonna be hard but im trying.

Noxypia In reply to kaze-fox [2013-01-11 16:29:46 +0000 UTC]
It is just my advice. It is indeed not necessary to learn to paint and draw traditionally but it certainly helps. You can not cheat when you draw and paint traditionally while digitally can. If you know what I mean... digital tools, 3D programs... Thus you should be careful when you learn to draw and paint digital, and try to avoid those helping tools until you master the fundamentals and concepts of drawing and painting.

thats true. you cant press the undo button on traditional work. but i am still interested in some traditional classes. im going to have to try to figure it out but it'll take a while.
