I've had this gallery for almost ten years now, and I've never done the sexy nurse trope before-- that's because it really doesn't do anything for me. Something that reminds me of the the place I go when I or a loved one is severely injured, ill, or dying. . . yeah: HOT!

But Hello Nurse is an exception. Besides, she worked for the studio psychiatrist, not in like an ER or something. it was a much more welcoming setting!

Not too complicated a premise here. About a week ago, Doug Walker did an episode of his Top 11 Animaniacs episodes. And it reminded me of how much I loved that show when I was a kid, too. I still think it's the perfect kids show, because it has lots of great slapstick and timing that little kids will like, but a really great witty, verbal humor that I really like now as an adult, and loaded to the gills with lots of adult jokes that manage to slip under the radar.

And I always loved how the boys reacted to Hello Nurse or really any attractive woman, it's a lot like Conan O'Brien will act on his show. It's based on old vaudeville, or old performers like Bob Hope, and it still works, especially with cartoon characters. And I loved that the writers and producers of the show weren't so scared of their own shadows and did jokes like that, because the way Yakko and Wakko reacted was CUTE. The idea that their behavior would make everyone on tumblr collectively have a rage-induced stroke is just icing on the cake to me!

So with all that in mind, I had to figure out a way to do something with this character that didn't betray too much of that. I didn't want something too smutty here. Her design is based on old pinups, so, when I had the fun task of imaging what she had under that dress. A teddy seemed kind of perfect, it had a sort of sophisticated alluring quality, not TOO revealing, not too perverse, and she wore a 1940s dress, makes sense that she'd have an undergarment that also seemed to fit the era. It's not really any more revealing than some of the things she has worn on the show. . . except that as I've said before: undergarments are just by their nature more intimate.

I also knew I'd have Yakko and Wakko peeking in through the window, so that required me to straddle a fine line as well (although I'd LOVE to straddle HER fine lines *rimshot*). I wanted to keep it cute and funny and that's hard to do with voyeurism! I think adding the little hearts over their heads helped!

Then came the final challenge of just getting her look right. I had to make it clear that this was Hello Nurse, but she was drawn in a very exaggerated style: tiny waist, really overdone hourglass shape. I tried to do everything I could to give has defined an hourglass figure as I could while still having it look like something drawn in my own style. The face presented a similar challenge, since I had to get the eyes right as well.

But I'm very, very pleased with what I have. This has instantly become one of my very favorites. I just could not be happier with the final product.
