Description Acrylic on canvas-paper, slightly larger than A4.

I tried to get a velvet-like effect on this one since black panthers always look like black velvet to me. Also, I wanted to make it's fur look soft to contrast the hard glare of it's eyes.
I'm pleased with the result

You can buy the original for £85 from my website here... [link]

Must be difficult to draw something like this on a totally black background. You still managed to bring out the details very well!

I love it. Such realistic eyes, with glints of light and and details like the eyelids with a touch of moisture. The fur is SO realistic, I have to say you really did an amazing job.

Thanks. I did try to get the fur to look as real as possible... I think I killed my brush in the process though

Well I think you could sell this piece for at least 50-60 dollars to someone who's interested.

I was just thinking that when I get a job I'm going to buy a lot of art from you.

Lol, that's very kind of you. I do sell some of them, currently this type is coing at about £80 (that's about $160 - they do take a lot of work) - conciderably less for a friend of course

Actually, from what I've researched, that's quite cheap for an original...

raptordocker In reply to nudge1 [2007-05-18 13:52:50 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... for the original, I think that's a good price, but for prints I think it would be around 50-60 dollars here. Ugh, it's hard to compare really because people get payed differently in Europe, more, I'm pretty sure?

nudge1 In reply to raptordocker [2007-05-18 15:40:27 +0000 UTC]

It's difficult for America at the moment because the value of the dollar is quite low. A few yeas back it used to be about 1.5 dollars to the pound, now it's more like 2. What that really means is that, although it costs us about the same day to day (wages vs payments etc.), once the money is converted we do get more in comparrison at the mo.
I've seen prints by local artists going for about £30, which is about $60 dollars, so that sounds right. It still seems a lot to me though. I'm still not sure what price to sell prints at, maybe £15... I don't know.
As for the original, I worked out the price based on time taken to paint them. Also, the usual price for a local artists original is about £100-120, so I'm still being cheap... ish

Yeah I think it's really about the difference in cultures.

Too bad there is a problem though. X_X

They need a universal currency.

nudge1 In reply to raptordocker [2007-05-21 13:49:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, that was the basic idea with the Euro... they're used throughout Europe, and you can spend it here, but we've clung to our Pounds... for now at least The problem is, that richer countries loose out when they switch over because of the blalance needed fro the poorer countries. That's half the reason we've stayed put. It'll happen soon enough though, I'm quite convinced of that.

As for the Dollar, it's value plumetted when the twin towers fell... Before there was really very little difference.
