after forever on hiatus, i actually finish something!

i did the sketch for this immediately after finishing ico last year. that game seriously fucked me up. best immersion, best environment, best ambient music, crap camera control-ermmmm never mind that! so i had this sketch lying around and i really wanted to use watercolors to color it. problem is, i had none and i've never been quite able to use them well so i wasn't too eager to get some. one day i bought watercolor pencils, which i use by breaking off the lead and diluting it with water to make my own paint, which makes color mixing much easier than with watercolor palettes.

then, i started feeling crappy about never finishing any art anymore so i figured i'd give it a shot. colored with watercolor pencils and ink pen (plz don't zoom in, i was careless) and heavily fixed up in photoshop (mostly because i always pictured this as 'glowing' and yellow-toned like the game and it's kind of hard to get glowing light colors with watercolors and no masking liquid) tried to capture that surreal feeling of ico as well as both the mechanical and the natural parts of the island. also: wanted to go for this elegant, elongated, amano-esque anatomy i've seen others do, in case it looks odd. i tried, lol.

can't say i'm completely happy with it, but i'm glad i actually finished something and got some watercolor practice in.
