Description I got the urge a while back to do a Drow-type character. He has no story - he's just a mysterious Dark elf or Drow type dude.

Still trying to get back to a more illustrative style, and ditching realism -- but while working on my anatomy skillz. Comments & crits welcome!

Made with Photoshop Elements and my mouse.

I just can't get over how neat your colouring is. It is so crisp. I like the way you dressed this fellow. He is a cutie. And it is good to see you always put lovely work into your background. Something I need improvements on myself

aww, thanks! I hate backgrounds too, but I've been gritting my teeth and trying to get better at them.

yeah I am starting to realise that backgrounds realy make a picture. So I better start diciplining myself more and do more of them

Oooh....chocolaty goodness! The only thing I might suggest is a touch of red glow to those bits you think would be touched by the wand's light. I'm a little confused by the lighting....I would think the light sources would be mostly backlit by the sky/setting sun, and the wand. Yet there appears to be a strong overhead source somewhere. In the cave. Just sumthin' to ruminate upon.

And screw realism! Go with what works for you. I struggle CONSTANTLY with my artistic identity and something to call an illustrative style. Between the two of us, we're pretty darned confussled, ain't we?

LOL, I know I'm confused. You, you're just full of too much talent!

Yeah, the lighting made sense to me at the time, like, he was in a cave 'room' and that gap was a window, and it was well lit, and that crystal was giving off a very faint glow... LOL. I WAS going to submit this to epilogue, but now, maybe not. They'll probably nab me on the lighting too.

*clasps her hands behind her back and yowls, but, I Don't WANNA change it...!*

I will see what I can do about the lighting - and I gotta fix that sword hilt which is occupying to different dimensions right now. Someone else pointed that out to me.

See? Confused. How could I have missed that?

You did a very good job with this! The anatomy does indeed look accurate, and I really like the colors. The shading also looks cool, and the lighting looks realistic, especially the light at the end of his staff. I think that you make an excellent illustrator; I can easily see your works on the cover of novels and books.

Thank you! I'm glad you like this 'new direction' - the encouragement means a lot. This is more like the stuff (although a MILLION times better) that I was drawing in jr. high/high school, before I got 'edumacated' - it feels the more like it than some other things I've been doing anyway, so I'm wondering if it's more of my 'true' style?

Dunno. I'll keep working at it and see what happens. Thanks again!
