Description So this is a Bridge I have always wanted to shoot but when I cross it its always on the way home from a Beautiful LONG day in the City and most of the time really late at that. So I never really stopped, Until now! So I'm on my way home from SF and I tell my self I'm going to stop this time and drive around and find a place to take some shots. So I make my way down to under the bridge and find a set of Train Tracks under it. The tracks follow the water away from the bridge and I want to get as far back as needed to get the whole bridge in the shot. Problem is, its DARK! So I walk down the tracks to the place this shot is taken from. I set up for the shot and its so dark I need some pretty long exposures to get the lights in. So each shot is taking about a minute to set up and shoot. After the 2nd or 3rd one I hear foot steps behind me walking from the dark. I turned to see some man walking up behind me with a case in his hand. He starts to tell me he likes the angles I'm shooting in and likes the ideas I'm using for the lighting off the train rails and the whole time he is getting closer. I exchange words to be friendly while my fists are clinched in my jacket pockets ready to take him down if he comes at me. He starts telling me about a painting he is doing on a wall down the tracks and how he has more work to do on it but I should go down to check it out some time. So this whole time I'm thinking about what I can do if he tries something, and it comes to me I tell him " I have to tell you I'm a Cop and you probably shouldn't be telling me that your painting on walls and stuff" I chuckle. He looks at me and say "oh I'm kidding" and walks away headed in to the dark. The whole time this is happening This Shot right here is being taken. I grab my equipment and head for the car as fast and safe as I could so I didn't trip and fall in the dark. Once I got back to the truck and locked my self in I thought I wonder how the shots came out And here is what I got..

Enjoy...

Great story and nice composition. The shot itself might work a bit better with a little more ambient light (i.e. dusk instead of night) and it might be a bit safer too! But you've found a nice angle that would be worth going back to for sure.

Thanks for the Feedback.. It was a last minute and first time stop but you have a great point about earlier in the day instead of night. i really just wanted the lite rails but there would be so much more with a bit more light on the bridge it self.. Ill add that back to my List of Do Over Shots

Thanks again..

Well said,me too.
That Stones comment, was stupid..Its a dangerous world, for me to suggest it's cool to
go into harms way, knowing it..is not Cool its Stupid and could be deadly...Your answer was tactful, mine was just way out of line, anyone who follows you and read that,I was way out of line...Thanks Brian,Mark.

Thanks for your kindness Brian...I hear you and understand.
My priorities and perspective have been twisted by the past as well.
I need to get my priorities and perspective in line with now, forget the past,
Get on with living...The right way,and be the man,I am,not wishing the past was different....Thanks for your honesty, and you support Brian.

back stories are not usually so exciting

(are you going to go back in the light and see if he really is painting on walls?)

I think i will go back one of these days... i want to go back and find a place to shoot the buildings from so ill do both. maybe this weekend.
