Balaralekns;ogwmigw
This took for freakin ever and I dunno why, combo of revision exhaustion and illness exahustion, but managed to finish today. Just realised a mistake...but I'll shut up 8D
Illness = bleatjamwint background, basically. Best I could do O LOOK PPL lawl.
Story will come later, when I am not sleepy...I have started it, it's gonna be a bleeding epic.

For femalefred 's Brighthelm Spring Exhibition Show , Sport Horse Examination - Part 3 Free Jumping
Horse: Fasach Ros
Placing: Joint 2nd/7

Arriving the day before meant plenty of time to unload the horses, suss out the yard layout and meet up with the Brighthelm staff before catching an early night to prep for what would be a long weekend. Unusually, considering the crowd she was with, Laura woke up before everybody else, despite having nothing to prepare for until the final day. She got up anyway, shivering a little at the morning temperatures, and went to feed the horses, enjoying the beautiful Sussex countryside with a shroud of dawn mist not yet burned off by the sun. The birds were raucous in the trees, swallows and starlings flitting overhead between the stables and barns.
“Ponies!” She cooed at Prince, Moony and Rose. Ever the clingy girl, Rose let herself be cuddled for a good five minutes before Prince and Moony became impatient, tossing their heads and pacing their boxes. Laura jumped when she got a jab in the ribs, barely stopping herself from screaming, and causing Rose to snap out of her hug-induced trance.
“Mornin’.” Scott said casually, letting himself into Prince’s stall as if he hadn’t just nearly given Laura a heart attack.
“Likewise. Why’s Pod sleeping in?” She asked Scott, bypassing the rib-jab.
“He’s not, he’s makin’ sure he hasn’t forgotten anything before comin’ o’er to the horses.” Came Scott’s disembodied voice.
Laura sniggered, “Not that he’d be able to fix it…” she replied. Then she caught herself. Since when did she get so conversational with Scott Taylor?
Life at the yard in the aftermath of the Karelian Masters had been oddly calm. Even Pod remarked on it, and he wasn’t all that touchy-feely to usually commentate on the “yard vibe”, as he put it. Marcus was still freezing Steph out, but that, Laura reasoned as she pulled off Rose’s stable fleece, wasn’t an altogether bad thing. Steph had been poison to him and he was finding a way of letting it out - and even if that way had been drenching Laura in a Karelian fountain and the resulting cold she’d had after the euphoria of competing and placing 2nd in the show jumping had worn off, she was glad he was alright.
And Steph?
Well to look at Steph you had to look at Scott and Steph. They were barely ever apart, which was sort of freaky but sort of a blessing at the same time - she rarely, if ever, had to deal with one on their own. Facing Steph would be facing questions about Marcus. Facing Scott meant that horrible thought Ellie had planted in her head coming back to light, and she did her best to bury it in the daily routine and chaos that was working at a competition yard.
Not that Ellie had raised the subject since the Masters. And now she was off with her own man, Harry Williams, vocalist and guitarist of a semi-famous rock band who she saw max three times a year, these days. What with Harry pursuing his music and Ellie pursuing horses, they barely had time to see each other - when they did, everything was put on hold til one of them had to go away. Harry had whisked her off to Majorca for an impromptu holiday in the sun with his bandmates, but that hadn’t stopped Ellie calling them late the night before asking how Rose had fared the trip down to Sussex.
Laura's thoughts were interrupted by Scott's mobile phone ringtone - Flower of Scotland in a tinny, phone-quality blast. Moony jerked her head up and snorted at the interruption. Laura casually eavesdropped.
“Mornin' Steph...how'd you know I'd be up?” Laura smirked to herself. It was far too early for the rest of the civilised world to be making phone calls. “Yeah, I know, competition day...he's lookin' well. He never looks unwell, to be fair. When he cracked his knees off that jump he just looked a bit confused...the guys? Pod's doing his five-time's-a-charm equipment check and Laura's checking over Moony...yeah, of course I miss you, you daft bint...” Laura stifled a giggle by covering her mouth with Moony's rug, before quickly pulling it back and spitting out cream horse hairs.
“Look, Steph, I've got to go, things to do...I know I'm not competing til tomorrow...look, I'll call you after lunch, OK? I'll tell you all about the cross-country course. Go back to bed or straighten your hair...yeah, love you. Bye.” Laura heard his phone snap shut, and he exhaled heavily.
“Trouble in paradise?” She said airily, giving Moony her pre-mixed feed.
Scott grumbled incoherently, and Laura rolled her eyes. Unbeknownst to anybody else on the yard, Laura and Ellie had put bets on the length of Scott and Steph's relationship. Maybe it was callous, cold-hearted...but it was also a pretty good game. Whilst Ellie reckoned they could make it til Christmas, Laura had a sneaking suspicion something would give sooner – most likely, one of their egos. Making a mental note of everything she'd just overheard, Laura put away Moony's feed skip and left the horses, and Scott, alone.

Never mention the mistakes, no one notices them if you don't mention them.

Trust me they won't, There are some real howlers in some quite famous pieces of art but no one see the mistake until it is pointed out.
