I meant recently. When I was writing a story from Pride's point of view (Fullmetal Alchemist) and he couldn't remember anything, but he had a severe fear of the dark, and after I wrote a few chapters, I started freaking out because of the dark and had to have a nightlight on. Guess I can't blame Pitch for that though.

I never said I had the worst experience, I was just scared of the dark for a while...even though I was 28 at the time. I tell ghosts who follow me around to go away and they usually do.

Seriously, you are a being of this world and this plane of existence, so you have power over them. Most ghosts that scare you feed off that fear, and once you don't fear them, you're fine. Much like Pitch Black...but real. *scratches head* Never really thought of it like that before.

let me say it like this:

I have little sixth sense, although I can hear whispers and feel them, I am pretty susceptible to it. furthermore, when they made contact, I literally couldn't breathe. so I couldn't tell them to go even if I wanted to.

just because one believe in it doesn't mean you can control them. an acquaintance of mine has a very strong sense and can even see the guardian souls of the departed.

Wow, that's pretty incredible. Hmm. Well, I have to say that I'm still confident that if I commanded them, ghosts would leave me alone, and I'll say that because I've done so before, with evil spirits summoned by a friend of my friend's with blood runes...yeah, that wasn't pretty and I was scared stiff. I couldn't see or feel them like you could though, I just knew they were there...Eh, I can't explain it.
