I know this is ' controversial ' right now but you know what... I like this idea. I was always going to make this canon, as it was the original idea of Nightcrawler ( For those unaware, Nightcrawler was originally meant to be the son of Destiny and Mystique but Claremont had to scrap it. Hence Azazel being retconed as his father ).

Plus the explantation that used in the comics was fairly thorough, and I don't really see it as THAT complicated. Mystique is just built different.

And I simply do not like Azazel so :V

But yeah, Kurt's original origin has been officially retconed into comics. Mystique is his ' father ' via her shifting her genes to get the correct...parts. In order to do that took on the template of her many lovers, one of those being Azazel hence why Kurt looks like him.
