So manga got more expensive over there? When I was there, I bought Index for about 6 euros. The average manga price around here is 11 or 12 euros. That's almost double.
Hah, DVDs? Who even buys those nowadays? There's the internet, with all the things you'd ever want, ready to be downloaded! (sometimes illegally)
Same goes with manga, even though I like paper manga, I don't bother buying them or they aren't available sometimes; that's why I read them digitally on the web.

I like having DVDs of the series I love : x I've also tried to buy some for short series and fortunately for me i haven't been disappointed. Otherwise I don't like so many animes so the ammount of money I can spend for that remains decent : )

No, it's normal, I watch anime on the net like you, it's just that for the series I really like I bought DVDs.
It's really cool to have big boxes and little artworks in them :3

I mean, if I don't really like the chara design or if it's too what the fuck, or I don't know...
The thing is that it must have something that touches me, then the rest can be really weird I could like it.
I always try to watch new things even though I don't like them at first sight. ^^
But in the end very few of them touches my heart and become my favourites. I still like some of them though, just differently

And hmm... what makes someone an 'otaku'? Seeing you have far more manganime accessories (figures, DVDs) than I do, someone could judge you to be a bigger otaku than I am.
Although you're right, seeing that not every anime can be liked equally as much. (Except for Nichijou. Everybody should like Nichijou. It's a very good show.)

Hm, I'd say Bleach :3 Is by far my favourite and the first anime I've started watching.
I also have D-Gray man, but I kinda forget it, I just wanted to try, so I bought it without knowing anythign about it. It's still an interesting universe and I quite like the atmosphere and concept. That's why I bought it.
I bought Ouran High School Host Club, cause it was so cheap, I wanted to try once again ^-^ and I really loved it. It's not the same love as Bleach, but I loved it because it was just fun and the characters were just lovely in their own way. It's the kind of show that both moves you at few but powerful moments and makes you think "what the fuck" the rest of the time. Oh and of course Code Geass, here again, I watched one episode one the net thank to a person I know, and quite liked the idea of a serious story and bought the DVDs. And I just love it. So i'm quite lucky because I love them all in a certain way.
That's a really good question. I'd say, what makes you an otaku is the fact that you're really interested in every ways that can link you to this universe, it's like the spirit. I have no idea if I'm an otaku, because it feels like an otaku is an extreme world too. And, I'm not that much into anime, or manga evreyday and most of the time when I buy figures it's more because I find them beautiful than because I need them, or like them in the anime and so on. (: So I wouldn't say a collector is neceassarily an otaku. ^^ Eheh, by the way maybe I am a bigger, I would have to know what is your link with all these things to know that ^-^

Oh man, Ouran High School Host Club. I watched one episode with a friend, and we were both astounded by its... uniqueness. You're right, it's a typical wtf-anime.
Oh yeah, that reminds me, I have a whole lot of PokΓ©mon DVDs... in Chinese. XD
I think I also got some Doraemon disks, but that's about it.

You've made your point. Though I personally think an 'otaku' isn't necessarily a word that refers to a lifestyle; it's mostly just a general term that expresses a broad and not always deep bond with any factor from the manganime world. ^^
