Blog | Facebook | Instagram | TumblrBatman is supposed to be extremely intimidating in the dark, so I made his entire costume extremely black. I don't know why he always had a yellow belt, but I personally thought that looked bad and took away from his design purpose. Also, I made his eyes be hidden behind dark lenses, and the mouth opening have a scarier silhouette with teeth... Super scary! Since his design is very dark, I've also uploaded a WIP and outline versions so it's easier to see the detailed armor. (link/thumb below)

i like how much more frightening this is than his normal costume, i always thought his standard get up just wasn't enough to strike fear into the hearts of criminals but this could frighten scarecrow

I think if you made the crowl and cape a dark gray with shadowed eyes, add a full face black covering over the face, but keep the fangs gray like the rest of the cowl; it would solve your problems. Try that out in some sketches. The fundamental design for a new suit is right here, if you just make it work out right then I wouldn't doubt if you got a call from DC.

I really like what you did with the mask. I think I tried something like that once but could never get it to work. Suit needs something to break up all the black I think.

The fanged cowl is great, but if it was over something like Terry's full-face mask it might look a lot more imposing.

Just so you know the real life answer was inking was more difficult, the comic answer as to the yellow belt and symbol that bruce wayne would choose was to give bad guys a target other than his head and exposed face. Not saying anything negative I love the design & I love the concept. Just given some friendly info

yeah they never give that info directly its a "have to figure that out on your own" kinda thing, but i was able to talk with a dc artist for a school art project and thats one of the questions that was asked, it was cool the guy was able to give that info.Β
