Doomguy/slayer used a sword to fight the Demons before Doom (2016) began. so this is pretty accurate lorewise

I think the knights that salute you after you kill the Guardians wore the armor he used before. And if this is indeed DOOM 4, then he wore the armor of, like, 40 years from now on (Doom 1 and 2 were set in the middle of the 21st century).

Well, not exactly. Berserk has no real demons (whatever the apostles are, a baddas human can kill them. An imp can survive a .50 cal burst from the future, which is actually a pretty damn good feat for a 2 meters monster).

if you dug into DOOM 2016's lore, the Doom Marine/Doom Slayer was literally this, sword and all. ^^^
