Loki’s use of an amped-up Berserker Staff and Thor’s pressures to become a serious King or a Prince Regent have worn the brothers down and strained their once-close bond for a century and a half at the very least.
Under the century of preparations and plans for Thor’s nearing coronation, a realm as god-forgotten as Midgard suddenly seems to gain a new level of sentience as its mortal people start toying with one of Asgard’s Crown Jewels. The Tesseract is not an everyday trinket, and in the span of seven decades it spikes up not only once, but twice. Political unstability ensues, and the two princes are sent away to retrieve the Gem.
Or, alternatively, the story where aliens found us first and theyre kinda assholes.
