Not many people know, but before man, a lot of dogs and other animals went to space. The most well known are Laika, the first life in space, and Belka and Strelka - the first life that successfully came back from space.

Zvyozdachka ("little star") is less known of the space traveling dogs. She flew in 1961, March 25. Her name was given by Yuri Gagarin and it was the dog that tested his cabin for the last time.
