Winner;After thoroughly reading through each form I've come to a decision on the winner of this kia ;w; it was very hard, as all the forms were superb, but unfortunately there can only be one winner. So without further ado, I would like to congratulate Northern-song on winning this babe ;w; I loved your significance through the way you portrayed it in your story. Reading your form I fell in love, having my own issue with overbearing parents this particular story pulled at my heartstrings ;w; I hope you love your new girl Niylah as much as I loved reading about her.

Yours was very close with northern and gave me a hard time choosing XD I honestly wanted to read more from your form, like more about him playing cupid with his drug-laced sweets that makes people fall in love involuntarily. It would have made an interesting read. I also wanted to desperately know what was inside that heart. Yours was definitely a heart breaker and I loved every bit of it. The only thing that held it back was the length. It felt too short to satisfy the want to know more about him and left me hungry for more, like a good anime that's ended too early coughpanty&stockingwouldbeoneofthoseanimescough. But that shouldn't be taken as bad but good, as it shows that you can leave your readers wanting more ;3 it's tough but learning the perfect middle ground of just enough but not too much is a tough skill to master, but when you get there I can tell you will be one hell of a writer //shoots cause makes bad black butler joke

Having my own insecurities with my weight, I love to see characters that can feel comfortable with their weight and it always brightens my day. Although the story felt a bit weak and cliche, I still enjoyed reading it nonetheless <3 the mean mother seems to be overused nowadays, maybe some food for thought would be to try and used an unlikely source for her teasing of her weight? In your story the mother mentions that as a higher class young lady, her daughter will be judged more harshly than someone of average class, but the story didn't actually portray any judging views from an outside party other than the mother herself. Maybe you could have included something like the servants snickering about how the young mistress is growing "out" of all her clothes and if she keeps going she'll be a butterball in no time and the mother overhears this. I felt like the mother was mean with no reason, showing the mothers own insecurities about her social class would have really tied it together nicely so she didn't seem so mean with no reason. Everyone has flaws and to show those makes them more human and relatable ^w^

I of course really liked the use of the pillow being their significance, the only issue was the length. While I liked it the story it felt too short, too bland. I wanted to read more, feel the passion, but it felt dry. Next time try to make it a tad more juicy ;O; if I could describe it, it was like reading a description to a book, just generally summing things up in a short sweet package, but in the end leaving it dry compared to the true story within. I felt there was so much more you could have done with this, all the potential wasted, especially with your knowledge of pillows ewe //nudges you with elbow. I like the idea and the significance though, the only thing I would change is give me a bit more detail about her, I don't want to read a textbook description of her, I want to feel the passion she has for the pillow, the heartbreaking pain of loosing her dear friend, the drive to honor his memory by making her own bakery, and the determination she is filled with follow her dreams!! And I know you have the ability to deliver this! Don't believe in yourself, believe in the Okamorei that believes in you!!

I guessed as much ;w; sorry, I should have been a bit more precise with my words XD being my first time doing a kia adopt I wasn't really sure what type of contest to do XD I didn't want to restrain the contestants but I didn't want to read a lot of useless filler either if that makes sense XD I guess to just keep in mind with my contests in the future is I like to see character development ;w; things like birthdays, their sign, etc I don't like unless it actually impacts the character somehow. I like interesting character concepts and development. But I totally think you should hold onto this idea you got ;3 I'd love to see it in the future <3

this was such a great surprise to wake up to!
There were some very amazing forms and I wasn't too sure about my chances for this contest, so this has made me over the moon <3 I had a great time working on my entry for Niylah and creating her character and story. To be honest the most exciting part is seeing how the cupcake turned into the kiamara! Her pearl and strawberry accessories are so cute o: I can't wait to draw her <3 (If there's enough hearts in the comment it's because I love her already xD)

Papier Mâché Cupcake Heart
Raedanoran's item of significance is a Papier Mâché cupcake fashioned in a way to resemble a heart, how he gained this has come to define who he is to this very day.
He had found love in the kind eyes of a man four years his senior, a chance meeting that happened during a time when he had been running a cupcake stall in order to raise money for his sickly mother. The man had lingered a while to keep Red company, complimenting his cupcakes and sharing tales of times he had spent overseas, and from this blossomed the relationship founded on what the younger man could only call "love". After a year with the man with the kind eyes, he received a gift to commemorate their one year anniversary, a box wrapped and topped with a bow, a letter written on crimson paper, a bouquet of roses and a promise he had to make to not open either of his gifts until he returned home. And so that's what he did, and the tears that left him that night felt like they would never end. The man he loved was deployed that night, sent overseas to fight a war that Red wished never existed. Wrapped in the box was the Papier Mâché cupcake in the shape of a heart with golden words scrawled across it that read "Follow your dreams" and "I will always love you". Something inside the cupcake-heart rattled around, a mystery buried beneath layers of paper, glue, cardboard and love, a secret that Raedanoran would curl up with and ponder as he stared at his little heart that fits neatly in both of his hands.
Months passed and still Red did not know what was hidden within the cupcake-heart, a knock at the door sent his heart racing as he ran to answer it. Little did he know that answering that knock was what would change his life forever. The man he loved had been killed in action, never again would he hear the words of "I love you" spoken by the voice that held a special place in his heart. He had cried more than he ever had before, but in the end, he knew that crying wouldn't bring those kind eyes back into his life and that he had to be strong for both himself and for the love that he had lost.
They had always told him that he was too young to know what love really was, that in the end he would be the boy with the broken heart. But he would not listen, ignoring the lies that spilled from the lips of strangers and vowing to himself to never let his heart break. The Papier Mâché cupcake-heart to this day remains whole, the secret still tucked away inside as Red will not let his heart be broken. It serves as a reminder to follow his dreams, even though the once sweet and kind-hearted Raedanoran's dreams have been twisted in wicked ways. That cheery smile is but a mask, a disguise for the little demon that reared its ugly head in order to protect the young cupcake chef's heart. His cupcake shop, "Cupid's Cupcakes", is not named the way it is for cutesy reasons, as Red's specialty lies with the aphrodisiac-laced cupcakes bound to make the most innocent of souls fall in love.👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Her grandfather was the one who introduced to baking, and as they owned a strawberry field, the fruit would often come up in recipes. even though her grandfather passed away, her love for baking did not, and Madeleine continued to honor his influence on her through using strawberries in almost all of her recipes. the strawberry fields they own is something she would protect with her life, especially now when the local government is trying to uproot it to build new shopping centers and a new neighborhood.

No matter when or where, she may cuddle it and feel comforted, as if her friend were still with her. It has always been there for her, as if a stuffed animal for a young child. Whenever friends backstabbed her, family disowned her, grades fell in school, other significant possessions were broken or stolen, or she was simply sick, her pillow was something that would always provide her comfort from the emotions inside, as if a silent counselor. No one, or no thing, could ever take this precious gift away from her. Not even as the stains of time worn on it reminded her of the cupcakes she used to share with her friend. He is a strict subscriber to the practice of "clean as you go". There's no need for ingredients and equipment to be thrown everywhere haphazardly. One must read a recipe thoroughly, mise en place (preparation, 'everything in place'), and tidy as they work. Then there's less room for error, and less effort needed for clean up. And of course, more time to admire and enjoy the sweet fruit of one's labors.
extra story;; The bakery was full today. Valentine's Day was their busiest day of the year, of course. Eros was shouting orders, calling for ingredients and checking on the progress of desserts. All around the small kitchen, his minimal team of employees were doing their best to fill the requests of the love struck holiday customers. The sounds of fervent whisking, and shouts of "Hot pan!" rang loudly in the tiny space. But they were all happy to be working.
Eros himself had a wedding cake to complete. He was just putting the finishing touches on now. It was a brilliant white giant, five tiers high, and covered in fondant and spun sugar lilies. It was his masterpiece. He took a step back to admire it, and put down his spatula on the table.
Unfortunately, in rush of filling orders, one assistant hadn't been tidying his station properly. As it filled with mess, he'd set a bowl of merengue on the boss' table. Eros, not noticing the offending bowl, accidentally hit it's edge and flipped the whole thing. The whipped egg white concoction arched through the air and hit him full in the face.
All the sounds in the kitchen stopped, and every employee turned towards their head chef. As the merengue dripped down his face, Eros took a deep breath. It was okay. The cake was unharmed. The sloppy assistant however wasn't getting away unscathed.
"Dish duty for the whole week!" Eros huffed. "And please everyone! What is the number one rule?"
The other bakers snickered softly to themselves as they returned to their tasks, all chorusing, "Clean as you go!"

As silly as it sounds, considering he lives in Britain and there's rarely ever any driving with all the traffic on the roads, Patroclus feels life and society would not function without good driving. He'll even be happy [and somewhat mortified] to lecture someone about what would happen should good driving habits cease to exist [which would simply be the end of the world: Patroclus believes nothing less]. He especially loves criticizing those who drive on the right side of the road ["Just because you drive on the right side doesn't make you right at all, there's a reason we sit in the right side of the car!"], and complaining about how if 'he ruled the world, he'd require everyone to take proper British driving classes'.
His significance affects his daily life, and he feels that everyone else should be the best driver they should be, no ifs ands or buts: after all, one of his favourite sayings is "don't marry someone who doesn't use their indicator or turn signal".

Not the stars themselves, because Elliot's never seen himself as the stars, but rather the pitch that hangs the stars. You see, people may be in love with stars, but they are finite, but the dark night sky is not. She's had them ever since she could remember, and if they are ruffled or dirtied, the first thing on her mind is fixing them. The state of one's feathers speaks volumes to her - if a stranger passes by, and have some in pretty rough shape, she pities them. Her feathers are her pride and joy! Perhaps it's because they symbolize flight, and lightness, or maybe it's just because she finds them pretty. the significance of luck;
Leonce has never been the luckiest man around, it seems that even just the smallest of tasks can often spell out misfortune for him. Whether it is going to get coffee or missing the winning lottery ticket by one number, he often feels that luck is not on his side. He has always been looking for someone or something to blame for these coincidental misfortunes, but he knew that this was not the answer. One day he found a tiny little turtle charm that his mother had given him when he was a small child, and upon finding it, he immediately dropped it, rolling under his dresser. Leonce wasn't surprised by this, knowing with his luck it was bound to happen, but when he bend down to pick it up, he found a twenty dollar bill! From this moment on, Leonce dubbed this lil tiny turtle his good luck charm and carried it where ever he went, ever since this his luck changing
for the better. This has made Leonce a more optimistic person and an over all more cheerful soul, knowing that he would have his tiny turtle friend helping him out and having his back as his little turtle warded off the bad luck.

Ever since she was young she would come back from the beach with a bagful of shells to draw on and examine. significance; Something that is of significance to Kirei is the wedding ring that his mother had owned and given to him before she passed away. Not only is it important to him because it belonged to her, it serves as a constant reminder of his goal and the promise he made to his mother. (Now some backstory on it gahh because this is real vague.) His mother was in a very bad relationship with his father, and was constantly abused. She did her best to protect Kirei, but that often meant that she had to cater to his father rather than him (his father was 'jealous', in a sense, of Rei.) She always told him to not end up in a relationship that was like hers; rather, to find someone that he could love and be loved in return. That was something that stuck with Rei even after she died, and he constantly tried to find true love, but what made it even harder is Kirei's occupation; he works in a sort of host club/escort service in some sort of skewed attempt to get attention, believing that that was what love was. Though he always kept his mother's words in mind, Kirei finds himself unable to love anyone as much as he loved his mother.

As the years passed, a death claimed the old family, and life renewed the new family, eventually, the spyglass found itself in the hands of Esteban. But this measly family history is almost insignificant, as it is not the reason he cherishes the glass, ho ho, not at all; Esteban keeps it close to his heart, as with it's magnifying qualities, he may lay his heart aching gaze upon the forbidden man he so desires to be his.

Every thought she has in this sense is written down in her little red notebook that never seems to run out of paper, which she keeps hidden from the prying eyes of others. the significance of the ocean; The ocean is something bigger than Alleria, and it's comforting and yet so terrifying it crushes her lungs and takes her air away - all at the same time. She sits for hours on end just watching the sea. She noticed the colors more than anything. The water is sometimes a bright blue, other times a green-blue like the old coke bottles she used to drink out of when she was little. But sometimes the sun reflected off the waves and the blue was too hard to look at, so she could only squint at it. It was always blue, though. It was constant and irregular at the same time. But the waves were her favorite. The waves would come in, before they got sucked back out into the vast and never ending pull + push of the wrinkly sea. But they always came back. Sometimes they came back angry, and touched her toes in the warm sand, but other times they would just lazily lap up onto the shore. She relates the hard times to the ocean when she can't think of a way to brighten up her deeper thoughts. Sometimes the waves come in violently and ruin something, just like life can be hard sometimes, but softer waves will always follow after that.

Penelope has always had a passion for poetry, enjoying the way words can be read like music without sound besides what's already playing in your head. The allusions, imagery and symbolism has always struck her deeply, leading her to enjoy how you can create your own story when reading a poem. With books, the plot is already created, and there's no way of deviating from what you have initially read. The same goes with music, where the melodies in the background hint at the singer's meaning. But when you read a poem, it's free range. Penelope has always enjoyed this aspect of her life, and not too long ago she realized that there were certain individuals in the world who were unable to read such poems; those who were blind. Sure, you could read the poem to them out-loud, but the tone of your voice is already indicating the direction you would like the poem to go. When reading a poem mentally, one is able to let the words really sink in. With this in mind, she decided to learn braille, and then began to make poems for the blind, so they were able to read it themselves. She's rewritten tons of older poems by authors such as Edgar Allen Poe, but also has her own original works. This part of her life as built her character into one of patience, kindness, and a generosity that is unmatched by others.

significance; Reflections don't only reflect who you are. If you look close enough, there's hidden secrets within them. That's exactly why mirrors are so significant to Kiran. Sure, the lad is a bit obsessed with admiring himself, but the reason he obsesses over his reflection is to deceive others. When he looks into a mirror, everyone thinks he's just being his usual narcissistic self. How ironic that his name means "light," but the boy is anything but light. Darkness hides within him that no one can see. Maybe if they looked closer into his reflection they could see it, but he knows of no one who has such a connection to mirrors as himself. Without reflections, how could he know what was going on all around him? It frustrates Kiran how little his eyes can see, so he uses reflections to expand his peripheral vision. Whatever goes on behind his back is never a secret.

significance; What is significant to Corrie is the sky. Literally the sky and everything in it all times of the day. Most importantly because when Corrie was born, she was born with a birth defect that made her blind. She grew up most of her childhood hearing about the stars and the sun sets, and the universe... but never actually being able to see it. But then, when she turned 14 she was able to have surgery to reverse the defect, thus giving her 20/20 vision. The first thing she got to see was the sun rise. And that has been her personal fave thus far, the pinks and purples of all shades dancing across the sky. She now even elects to have picnics as often as she can to see the sun rise in the sky.

Significance: When Lafayette was a small boy he would often take on tasks and games that were too big for him, as he was born early and was far smaller than most Kiamaras his age, and when he returned home from his laborious adventures he would be covered in scraps and bruises, often from small falls that came from tripping over his own paws. His mother, a gentle woman with a kind soul and a habit of being more generous to strangers than she could truly afford, would take one look at his battered figure before getting her beloved teapot out of her cupboard and begin to make him tea - specifically green with a spoonful of honey to make it sweet enough for her baby to tolerate it - and he would quietly sit at the table, sipping from the small mug as she carefully stored the rest of the tea and cleaned her pot. Lafayette knew that his mother adored her tea pot; it was a family heirloom that had been passed down for generations, and when she passed, the tea pot fell into his care.

Vanilli makes desert-themed dresses for a living, so her spools of thread are very important to her. However, of all the spools, Velvet Red is her favorite; it was with this thread that she made her first dress.

significance; Serena is an artist, at least to her own eyes. She works at her own desert shop that she founded once she realized her passion. Along with cupcakes, she also makes brownies, regular cakes, all sorts of simple deserts. However, the reason why she considers herself an artist is by how she designs the frosting and icing on her deserts. It ranges from a simple "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations" to full on drawings on them. Her mother and sister used to help her with the shop, but now it's mostly her sister as their mother had gotten older and couldn't contribute as much. Serena wants to make sure the business keeps running, so she can sell her well-known delicacies, as well as a family tradition she hopes to start.
