Introduction
Cold-blooded Killer? I think not. A cute, cold-blooded killer. Totally. Say hello (or goodbye, rather) to my favorite The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya character, Asakura Ryōko.
Title
The title, COOL EDITION, is the name of a song in the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Character Song Vol. 5 Ryoko Asakura CD. It's really awesome. You can listen to it here . During development, this was codenamed "Combat Knife".

It's a vector wallpaper. I hand-drew the vector using the path tools in Flash CS3 over a reference picture of Ryoko. Took me three months to finally complete (not all towards work, I had other things to do).
Miscellaneous
The binary in the background actually stands for something, but it repeats over and over. If you know what a UTF-8 string prefixed by a 16-bit "length" integer is, you might be able to figure it out. The enlarged Japanese characters were meant to form a short phrase, but it's not accurate Japanese, grammatically.

So awesome! I just love Ryoko Asakura, and this wallpaper is great. She's so cute, and yet she holds that knife... she's the best character in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

This is what I did in my spare time over the summer. I started in August, sometime before band camp and I worked slowly into September... But then band and school got in the way so I left it alone for like a month.
I have little spare time for art...it's always other things...school, activities, programming, etc...
