Walked over from Cow Green Reservoir, this was my first visit.
Photo taken: 18/11/2019 at 11.38am from the South side of the valley and is the correct way round.
If you look into my Gallery and go back 20 photos you will see a prominent rock on the right of that photo which may be the one you are thinking of.
I think that is called Nichols Chair after a local cobbler from Dufton climbed it and soled and healed a pair of boots while he was up there.
Do not know what is classed as the nick.
It might have been my first visit but it won't be my last
