Wow, two deviations in one day, I'm on a roll! Must be the vanilla ice-cream I'm eating right now...
Anyway, yah, another animal drawing for my Year 12 Design prac. I know, I'm sorry, but they're all I have time to work on right now so I'm afraid animals are all you'll be getting for a while. This one's a hippo, if you hadn't figured it out yet. 
My cousin says the teeth are creepy, but what can you do when that's what they look like?? Hope you all like, and comments or friendly critiques are very much appreciated!Derwent Studio coloured pencils.

Lovely shading job.
critique - the mouth and neck are good but the top of the head and nose are too rounded and the ears too far down. The eyes should be on pronounced bumps and the nostrils too. A hippo has his nostrils, eyes & ears in a straight line so that when he is in the water he can have the eyes, ears & nose above the surface and nothing else.

I like the pose on this guy, he's very sweet. (Unless it's a she, in which case I apologize for being unobservant.) It looks really good, almost like I could touch it. And you really nailed the teeth there, I must say.

great job on this hippo! very nice! are derwent colored pencils any different from the regular ones? just wondering for future reference...

Thank you very much! Personally, I find that Derwent pencils are a bit softer and easier to blend than a lot of others, but sometimes they can be a little clumsy. I prefer them, though.
