My first attempt at doing star trails went surprisingly well considering it was out of my bedroom window

The thing I love about star trail images is the colours of the stars show up. All we see with our eyes are white points of light but here you can see the colours. It's the same with long exposure shots the colours show up quite markedly. You have also managed a long exposure shot without getting that orange glow from street lights.

That's true, there's quite a lot of variation in colours that we dont see normally! Also that's one benefit of living in the countryside, no light pollution

Even in the countryside light pollution is still an issue .... if you live in England you are never far away (in relative terms) from a populous area and long exposure collects all the glow ... in Scotland it's not so bad and I'm the highlands it's so dark you get no light pollution at all ... some areas of Wales are also light free
