Description

Cynthia sat on the canvas and stared at Raye in disbelief. Running it through her head she still couldn’t believe it.

Things were going well and she was controlling the match, dictating the pace and the style of the match to best suit her own skills.   She was on the mat wrestling with Raye and in a flash she was in a bad spot. She didn’t even really remember doing anything wrong. There was hand fighting and arm grabbing and leg grapevining and the generals struggle for control, which she was on top. Suddenly she was in the jaws or a steel trap with no way out, pain coming in, and spots starting to form.

Just like that her reign was over.

It was unbelievable to her.

Raye, too, was in disbelief.

Not as much in the win but as having climbed the highest mountain at the gym. The journey had been long and not always easy.   Not that long ago she’d gotten wiped out by Vikki in the tournament and this moment seemed so far away. Now it was here and she couldn’t believe it.   She had faith in herself and her athletic skills, but she wasn’t sure she could get here.   Now that she was she finally felt she belonged at the top of the fighters at the gym. No longer did Vikki, Laura, Allison, Stephanie, and the current champion Cynthia seem another step above. She was on par with them, or at least knew she could now compete with them.

They were both broken out of their stupor by Elizabeth’s voice.

“The winner by submission… and NEW gym champion…. Raye Larsson. Don’t go far there is something you need to put on.”
