Now fueled by little more than adrenaline, Raye willed herself off the canvas. She shouldn’t have been the first one to make a move as they rose, yet she somehow managed to beat the fresher Samantha. She threw herself into the air and timed a perfectly aimed dropkick. Right on the button. One foot caught Samantha in the bread basket, the other right under the chin. It was a huge blow and it staggered the bigger pro, sending her back to the mat.

Just like that the match had turned.

However, the move didn’t come without consequences for Raye. She’d performed the move without a lot of forethought, just reacted. Her landing on the mat proved to be agonizing. Not only did the landing bring forth the aches in her tender back, she landed hard on her shoulder and arm. The arm Samantha had worked on and injured. It was an excruciating reminder of the pain she was in and she could not immediately follow up her advantage. She laid on the mat, eyes to the ceiling fighting off the agony desperately trying to will herself up, but not being able to muster the strength.

Allison watched from the outside as both fighters lay prone on the mat. She got as close as she could to Raye and yelled for her to get up, slapping the mat, urging her on.

“You’ve got her on the run, Raye! Get up! Let’s go! You can do this!!”
